Butter wouldn’t melt…

I fell in love with this cheeky chappy – well who could resist?

This feature was originally published in Your Family Tree issue 107 (September 2011). The YFT team discussed childhood records and decided that the best way to make an impactful was to use a cute face. In my head I pictured the ‘please sir… can we have some more’ from Oliver Twist. With that in mind, I searched high and low for a suitable child and this little boy jumped out of the Getty website.

What we ended up with was a gorgeous black and white focal point for the cover and feature. I enhanced the image by colouring the eyes and complemented the feature with a handwriting font and period illustrations and photography.

If you have an iPad and would like to see the feature in hi-res please download the free YFT Newsstand App. YFT107 is available as a free download in the App.
